Greek police have arrested a 37-year-old man accused of seriously injuring a pedestrian in a hit-and-run crash in the northern city of Thessaloniki, authorities said.
The incident occurred at around 6:30 p.m. on Monastiriou Street, a major road in the city, when the vehicle driven by the suspect struck a pedestrian under circumstances that remain under investigation. According to police, the driver did not stop to provide assistance and fled the scene, prompting an immediate search by authorities.
The injured man sustained serious injuries and was transported by ambulance to a hospital, where he remains hospitalized, police said.
Traffic police later located and arrested the suspect. He is expected to appear before judicial authorities. According to police information, the man did not hold a valid driver’s license, as it had previously been revoked due to an earlier violation.
