Man Dies After Being Hit by Train at Ano Liosia Station

A 50-year-old man was struck by a suburban train in Ano Liosia and later died in hospital, prompting authorities to investigate the circumstances of the incident

A tragic incident occurred on Athens’ suburban train line in Anó Liosia, where a 50-year-old man was fatally struck by a commuter train. Emergency services transported the man to Attikon Hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival.

According to Hellenic Train, the man entered a fenced and restricted section of the railway, crossing the tracks at an unauthorized point. The train, operating on the Kiato–Piraeus route, was stopped in a neutral, de-energized zone while authorities investigated the incident.

Hellenic Train confirmed that around 180 passengers were on board at the time. Staff provided assistance and information, and replacement buses were arranged to support commuters affected by the disruption.
