Memorial Held for 19-Year-Old Myrto in Kefalonia

Family and friends gathered in Kefalonia for the 40-day memorial service of 19-year-old Myrto, as her father spoke publicly about his grief and frustration over the ongoing investigation

A memorial service marking 40 days since the death of 19-year-old Myrto was held on Sunday in Kefalonia, with relatives and friends gathering in an emotional atmosphere to support the young woman’s family.

The ceremony took place as the family continues to mourn the loss of the teenager, whose death has drawn public attention in Greece. New memorial photographs created by the family showed Myrto depicted as an angel in the sky.

Speaking to local media, the teenager’s father described the past 40 days as “a living hell” and said the pain of losing his daughter has remained unchanged since the moment he learned of her death.

“My clock stopped the day I heard that Myrto died,” he said. “What I felt on the first day, I will feel until I die. This child was a gift from God.”

He also expressed frustration over the course of the investigation and criticism directed at his daughter, saying the family is waiting for the conclusions of investigators and judicial authorities.

The father said both he and Myrto’s mother are struggling to cope with the loss, adding that they hope to see their daughter “even in a dream.”
