An elderly driver lost control of his vehicle in the south-central coastal town of Nafpaktos on Tuesday morning, crossing into the opposite lane before mounting a sidewalk and plowing into parked motorcycles, outdoor café seating and two vehicles.
The car reportedly struck six parked motorcycles and a number of tables and chairs before colliding with two vehicles and coming to a stop. Video footage from the scene showed extensive material damage along the busy commercial street.
Moments before the vehicle reached the area, a woman who noticed the approaching car managed to pull her child away from a parked vehicle outside a nearby business, avoiding what could have been a far more serious incident.
One person sustained minor injuries in the crash, local media reported.
Nafpaktos is a coastal town on the northern shore of the Gulf of Corinth in south-central Greece.
