A priest in the greater Thessaloniki area is facing serious accusations of sexually harassing five minors, in a case that has shocked the local community of Lagkadas. Authorities have opened an investigation after the boys, aged 12 to 15, filed a complaint at their local police station alleging both verbal and physical harassment.
Police have compiled a case file against the 47-year-old priest on charges related to the violation of sexual dignity, following the minors’ statements.
The priest has denied all allegations. He claims the boys fabricated the accusations in retaliation after he reprimanded them for allegedly stealing money from the church donation box. “I caught them stealing and they wanted to take revenge,” he reportedly told investigators.
The case remains under police review, and further action will depend on the findings of the ongoing investigation.
