Fatal road accidents in the region of Attica recorded a concerning rise in November, as ten people were killed, and 650 were injured, eleven seriously.

According to the Attica Traffic Police Directorate, the main causes of the 530 traffic accidents were reckless or inattentive driving, failure to obey traffic signs, and pedestrian violations of road rules.

The police noted that the failure of motorcycle riders and passengers to wear helmets contributed significantly to the severity of injuries in many cases.

During the same period, as part of targeted road-safety operations, the Attica Traffic Police recorded 35,627 violations, 218 of which were classified as misdemeanors.

Specifically, officers registered:

• 1,188 violations for driving under the influence of alcohol, including 46 misdemeanors.
• 2,609 speeding violations.
• 303 violations for running a red light.
• 603 violations for using a mobile phone while driving.
• 1,391 violations for not wearing a seat belt.
• 1,814 violations for not wearing a helmet.
• 41 violations for dangerous maneuvers.

The Traffic Police said enforcement operations will continue at full intensity to reduce accidents and improve road safety across Attica.
