The search for 16-year-old Laura has intensified as Greek authorities widen their investigation beyond the country’s borders, nearly two weeks after the teenager disappeared.
Laura has been missing for 12 days, with her last confirmed sighting dating back to January 10–11, when security cameras recorded her movements in the Zografou area of Athens, according to police.
Last Known Movements Under Scrutiny
Witnesses told investigators they saw the teenager enter a bakery, where she asked for access to Wi-Fi before requesting that staff call her a taxi heading toward central Athens. Police are also examining evidence suggesting Laura may have deliberately tried to confuse authorities, after her school backpack and student pass were found abandoned near a trash bin.
These findings have raised questions about whether the teenager intended to erase her trail.
Family Appeals for Her Return
In a public statement, Laura’s parents described the past days as “dramatic” and said they have been in constant contact with police since her disappearance. They strongly denied reports of abuse or mistreatment at home, saying the only disagreements involved her school performance.
“We are living through agonizing moments as we search for our Laura,” the parents said. “Our only wish is for her to be found and to return home. We have come to Athens and searched door to door.”
They appealed directly to their daughter to come back, stressing that she would be welcomed with “open arms and unconditional love,” and urged anyone with information to contact authorities immediately, noting that her life could be at risk.
Investigation Extends Abroad
Greek police have expanded their inquiries to Germany and Ukraine, the country of origin of Laura and her parents, in an effort to locate distant relatives who may have had contact with her. So far, those efforts have not produced results.
According to available information, investigators believe Laura has not used any form of transportation that would require a passport check, narrowing the range of possible travel routes.
As the investigation continues, authorities say they are reviewing surveillance footage, witness testimonies, and telecommunications data in hopes of uncovering new leads that could bring the missing teenager home safely.
