Severe weather from Storm Kristin caused significant flooding in the town of Varda, located in the Ilia region of western Greece. Heavy rain transformed city streets into flowing streams, carrying mud and debris and making movement difficult for both pedestrians and vehicles.
Emergency crews from the Andravida-Kyllini municipality intervened, using machinery to remove accumulated water and restore road access. Despite the intensity of the flooding, no injuries have been reported.
Local residents and business owners expressed growing concern, noting that such flooding is not uncommon during heavy rainfall in the area. The recurring nature of these floods highlights ongoing challenges for infrastructure and drainage in Varda.
