A 15-year-old student was hospitalized after being beaten by a group of young attackers in the northern Greek city of Xanthi, in what appears to be yet another case of teen violence.
According to the victim’s mother, the incident occurred on October 27, following a school celebration. A group of youths allegedly dragged the boy into an alley and repeatedly punched him in the head and face. One of the assailants reportedly attacked him because he was jealous over a girl.
“My son left school early to meet friends. Two classmates called to ask where he was. Minutes later, a boy showed up asking to talk to him. Then two more arrived, along with a car. They pulled him into an alley, one held him down while another hit him. He fell, and they kept punching his head and face,” the mother told local media.
The teenager was taken to hospital for treatment, and his family has filed a police complaint. The suspects have not yet been identified or arrested. According to the mother, one of the attackers had previously assaulted two other students for similar reasons.
Similar Incident in Alimos
In a separate case, another 15-year-old student was attacked on Monday morning at a school in Alimos, a suburb of Athens. Two masked individuals entered the school grounds and assaulted the student, hitting him in the head and face while classes were in session.
An ambulance transferred the injured teen to Aglaia Kyriakou Children’s Hospital, where he received medical care before being discharged. Authorities are investigating both attacks and searching for the perpetrators.
