TikTok Live Leads to Arrest in Greece Domestic Violence Case

A viewer alerted emergency services after witnessing a man assaulting his partner during a livestream, prompting police intervention and an arrest.

A domestic violence incident broadcast live on TikTok led to the arrest of a 65-year-old man on the Greek island of Crete after a viewer alerted emergency services, authorities said.

According to local reports, the man assaulted his 28-year-old partner during the livestream at their home in the municipality of Malevizi, near Heraklion.

A TikTok user who witnessed the assault immediately contacted Greece’s emergency number, 112. Police responded to the scene and arrested the suspect.

The attack reportedly took place in the presence of the man’s 16-year-old daughter.

Authorities acted despite victim’s wishes

Although the woman reportedly did not want to press charges, authorities proceeded with the case under Greece’s domestic violence legislation, which allows prosecution without a victim’s complaint in such cases.

According to the report, the suspect had previously come to the attention of police over similar incidents.

The woman was also reported to have been issued a panic button, a protection measure available to victims of domestic violence in Greece, indicating that she had already been receiving support from authorities.
