A four-year-old girl in Nicosia, Cyprus, has tragically died from complications related to Influenza A, authorities confirmed, marking one of the youngest victims in a season already severe for the country.

The child was initially admitted to the Limassol General Hospital, but her condition rapidly deteriorated, prompting her transfer to the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at Makarios Hospital in Nicosia. According to Charalambos Charilaou, spokesperson for the State Health Services Organization (OKYPY), she was intubated and in critical condition upon arrival. Despite the medical team’s intensive efforts, she succumbed to multi-organ failure, directly linked to the influenza infection.

This heartbreaking incident adds to a growing toll from Influenza A in Cyprus, with at least 14 deaths recorded since December, most involving elderly patients. The loss of such a young child has intensified public concern and grief.
