Two men have been remanded in custody following lengthy interrogations over a double murder in Foinikounta on October 5. A judge and prosecutor jointly ruled that the 33-year-old nephew of a campsite owner and his 32-year-old friend, a businessman, should remain in detention pending further investigation.

The nephew, also accused of attempted murder in a separate incident earlier in September, spent over four hours responding to questions regarding phone records and mobile data analysis. Prosecutors suspect he played a role as an instigator in the killings, including transporting a 22-year-old alleged accomplice from Foinikounta to Kalamata the morning after the murders. The nephew maintains his innocence, describing his alleged involvement as coincidental and emphasizing his cooperation with authorities.

The business friend, who co-managed the campsite, was interrogated for over five hours. He denied any involvement, explaining that communications with the 22-year-old alleged perpetrator were part of normal work-related contact. He also refuted claims that he used a foreign (“Pakistani”) phone, insisting he communicated exclusively via his personal mobile.

Investigators now consider the 22-year-old as the principal perpetrator of the double murder. He may face new charges in the coming days as the investigation develops.

Meanwhile, authorities are still searching for a 30-year-old business associate of the Athens entrepreneur, who is believed to have acted as an accomplice. He is currently in Germany on a planned trip, and a warrant has been issued for his arrest. Officials have not ruled out additional arrest warrants as new evidence emerges.
