Young Man Killed in Knife Attack in Halkida

A 23-year-old man was fatally stabbed during a violent altercation in Halkida on Sunday night, with police investigating possible links to a second stabbing that occurred shortly after nearby.

A 23-year-old man was killed late Sunday night in Halkida, central Greece, following a violent knife attack that reportedly stemmed from a dispute — possibly over sports fan rivalries, according to initial police assessments.

The incident occurred on Lilandion Street, where a group of unidentified individuals became involved in a heated argument that quickly escalated into a physical fight. During the altercation, the victim was fatally stabbed.

The young man was rushed to the Halkida General Hospital in a private vehicle, but was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. His companions reportedly fled the hospital immediately, avoiding questioning by police.

Second stabbing possibly linked

Police later discovered a second injured man, also stabbed, near Eleftherias Square, just a short distance from the initial crime scene. The victim was transported to the same hospital, where he remains hospitalized with stab wounds.

Authorities believe the two incidents are likely connected and have launched an investigation to determine the circumstances and possible motives.

The Hellenic Police are conducting witness interviews and reviewing surveillance footage from the area in an effort to identify those involved in the deadly confrontation.
