Greek authorities are examining new evidence in the investigation into the double murder at a campsite near Finikounda, Messinia, as witness testimony and video footage provide fresh insight into the suspects’ actions before the killings.

A key witness has told investigators she overheard a heated argument outside her home just hours before the crime. She described one of the men shouting angrily, “He hasn’t understood anything, I’m telling you!”, followed by a tense exchange. Her account has been deemed crucial and was formally submitted to police and the investigating magistrate on October 28, Greece’s national holiday.

Video Footage Shows Hours-Long Stop in Remote Area

A new video obtained by Greek media shows a white scooter leaving a dirt road at 18:23 on the evening of the murders. The footage confirms that the two young suspects, who were last seen refueling their vehicle around 14:30, had remained in an isolated area for at least three to four hours.

Investigators are now trying to determine whether the pair were waiting for instructions from someone before heading to the campsite. One suspect reportedly told police they had stopped to “drink energy drinks,” while his companion was on the phone repeatedly — making at least four or five calls.

The witness said she overheard one of the conversations, in which the man again said with irritation, “He hasn’t realized anything, I’m telling you.”

Questions Over Money Motive

New footage from a nearby gas station has also raised doubts about the suspects’ claims of being broke and committing robbery out of desperation. In the video, one of them — carrying a guitar case on his back — is seen paying for drinks with a wallet stuffed with €50 bills.

Authorities are now reassessing whether financial motives truly explain the killings, or whether a broader plan was behind the attack.

Tracing the Suspects’ Route

Security cameras have captured the suspects’ movements from their fuel stop at 14:37 to their arrival at the campsite at 20:14. Their multiple stops and prolonged stay in remote areas have strengthened investigators’ suspicions that they were coordinating their actions with a third party.

Police continue to analyze digital and physical evidence as they attempt to reconstruct the suspects’ timeline and uncover the motive behind the grisly double homicide that shocked the quiet coastal community.
