Four people sustained light injuries at an amusement park in Kremasti, Rhodes when the ride they were on (known in Greek as the “plate”) broke, throwing them off the ride and onto the ground.
Two people were arrested in connection with the incident: a 64-year-old company representative and the 42-year-old operator of the ride. A case file has been opened against them.
According to local Greek news website Rodiaki, the incident occurred at around 10 p.m. on Wednesday at an amusement park operating as part of the August 15 celebrations in the Kremasti area.

Observers noted that the four young people, aged 18 to 20, were extremely fortunate: their fall landed in an open space, avoiding both the protective railings and the risk of being trapped beneath the spinning ride.
Police from the Ialysos precinct have sealed off the ride, while the Municipality of Rhodes has been asked to suspend the park’s operating license.
The accident has reignited anger over what is perceived to be insufficient monitoring of amusement parks’ safety in Greece. Last summer, an amusement park incident in northern Greece led to the death of a young man when his seat detached from a poorly maintained ride.
Investigations at the time revealed the park had no operating license and exposed widespread corruption in the amusement park licensing system.
