Emmanouil Karalis once again delivered a stellar performance, this time at the Diamond League Final in Zurich, where he claimed second place in the pole vault, on Wednesday, August 27.

The Greek star skipped the opening height of 5.50m and opened his competition at 5.65m, where he needed two attempts to clear. From there, he found his rhythm. He bypassed 5.80m—easily handled by Armand “Mondo” Duplantis—and joined the Swede and American Sam Kendricks in the battle at 5.90m.

Kendricks had narrowly survived at 5.80m on his third attempt, while Dutchman Menno Vloon and Australia’s Kurtis Marschall wrapped up their nights at 5.65m. Former Olympic champion Renaud Lavillenie exited earlier with three misses at that same height.

At 5.90m, Karalis soared over the bar with one of his trademark effortless vaults, followed soon after by Duplantis.

Kendricks, meanwhile, failed once and rolled the dice by saving his remaining attempts for 6.00m. That gamble didn’t pay off—he bowed out with one failed jump, while Karalis also fell short at the mark. Duplantis, however, needed just one attempt to clear 6.00m and secure victory.

In the end, it was Duplantis atop the podium with 6.00m, Karalis taking a brilliant runner-up spot, and Kendricks finishing third with 5.80m.
