The initiative, which was introduced last year and renewed for 2026, aims to reward excellence while helping athletes continue their preparation for future events.
Karalis attended the meeting accompanied by his coach and father, Haris Karalis.
During the meeting, Kouvelos praised the athlete’s performance and character, highlighting both his sporting success and his influence as a role model.
He noted that Karalis’ achievements bring pride to the country and inspire younger generations, emphasizing the importance of supporting athletes who represent Greece on the global stage.
The Olympic Committee also reiterated its commitment to backing athletes through initiatives such as its “Adopt an Athlete on the Road to Los Angeles” program, which currently supports dozens of competitors preparing for future Olympic Games.
