Greece wrapped up the first four matches of its Nations League campaign undefeated after a 0-0 draw with Germany in Thessaloniki on Sunday, October 4. The result leaves the Greeks tied with the Netherlands atop League A, Group 2 with eight points, while Germany trails with five.
The draw also clinched at least third place for Greece, guaranteeing a spot in Pot 1 for the Euro 2028 qualifying draw. With two matches remaining, against the Netherlands and Serbia, the team will now push for a top-two finish and a place in the Nations League quarterfinals.
According to Football Meets Data, Ivan Jovanović’s squad has an 88.1% chance of reaching the final eight. The analytics site gives Greece a 58.9% chance of finishing second in the group and a 29.2% chance of taking first place.
Speaking to Ta Nea after the scoreless draw at Toumba Stadium, striker Vangelis Pavlidis summed up the campaign so far: “Two good wins, two good draws and a good position in the group.”
Pavlidis pointed to the team’s improvement in the second half but kept expectations in check. “We’re happy with our performance, but we haven’t achieved anything yet,” he said.
Looking ahead, he said the priority remains securing third place and a Pot 1 seeding for the Euro qualifiers, though he didn’t rule out a deeper run. “If we can do something better, we’d love that,” he added.
