The inmate, an Albanian national, is reportedly a leading member of the so-called 'Greek Mafia' and is under investigation for the assassination of another criminal underworld figure last November in the mountain resort town of Arachova

The victim was only identified as a 49-year-old Albanian national serving a maximum sentence for homicide and weapons possession

On Friday one prisoner was found dead in Kordyallos prison in Athens, and one in the Volos Youth Detention Center.

In the early morning Tuesday, a man was reported dead in the Athens Omonia Police Department. This comes just days after the news that a man named Mohammad Kamran Ashiq, originally from Pakistan, was found dead in the nearby Agios Panteleimonas police station.
