Greece remains among the most popular destinations for U.S. travelers, a status underscored by another major distinction in the American tourism market. The country was named “Best Tourism Destination” for the fifth consecutive year at the GT Tested Reader Survey Awards 2025, organized by Global Traveler magazine, according to the publication’s organizers.
The awards are considered highly credible within the international travel industry, as they are based exclusively on reader voting. This year marked the 22nd edition of the survey, which covered more than 90 categories worldwide, including destinations, airlines, airports, hotels, tourism services and financial products.
Voting took place between December 12, 2024, and August 31, 2025, involving subscribers and readers of Global Traveler in both its print and digital editions.
In the “Best Tourism Destination” category, Ireland ranked second and Spain third.
The awards ceremony was held in Miami on December 17, 2025. Greece’s awards for “Best Tourism Destination 2025” and “Best Tourism Destination for the fifth consecutive year” were received by Konstantinos Charokopos, head of the Greek National Tourism Organisation’s North America office.
