Karpathos has been named among the world’s ten “last remaining paradises” that travelers should hurry to experience, according to news18.com.

The international news platform’s editorial team compiled data on destinations that have managed to remain authentic, high-quality, and largely untouched by over-tourism. Alongside locations in Spain, Italy, Greenland, Georgia, Greece, India, Chile, and the Faroe Islands, Karpathos claims sixth place on the news18.com list.

The popular website notes that Karpathos has preserved its authentic character and offers a refreshing escape from the ordinary. “Beaches of wild beauty, dramatic mountain landscapes, and picturesque villages where local traditions are still alive come together to create an ideal destination with a wide range of alternative experiences,” news18.com emphasizes.

At the same time, new initiatives are underway to further enhance the island’s appeal. With funding secured by the municipality from the South Aegean Region, two new projects are expected to move forward, focusing on the development of thematic forms of tourism and the overall travel experience. These will include the creation and utilization of new climbing fields and walking trails.

“Our goal is to highlight Karpathos as a high-quality destination and to implement projects that upgrade the island’s core infrastructure while improving residents’ quality of life,” emphasizes Karpathos Mayor Michalis Fellouzis.

In this context, the Municipality of Karpathos has also secured 2.8 million euros in funding from the Ministry of Environment and Energy for the procurement of a permanent desalination unit.
