Donousa, Vassiliki on Lefkada, and Schisma Elounda on Crete are among the the most sought-after destinations in Greece by Greeks planning their holidays, said Airbnb this week.

Based on searches conducted by Greek travelers from January to March 15 for holidays in June, July, and August, other popular spots include Lipsi, Antiparos, Laganas on Zakynthos, Asprovalta near Thessaloniki, and Makrys Gyalos on Crete. City destinations like Marousi and Halandri near Athens also feature prominently.

Top trends, according to the short-term rentals platform include a strong preference for short stays in picturesque and serene locations with a surge seen in searches for countryside retreats, beachside escapes, and accommodations near national parks.

Airbnb reports a notable increase in interest for rentals offering unique experiences. Searches in its new “Play” category, which includes properties with basketball courts, game rooms, trampolines, and water slides, have surged by 214 percent. Additionally, family-friendly amenities such as barbecues and pools have seen a 13.7 percent rise in searches.

Data reveals that 48 percent of Greek users prioritize accommodations that can house their entire family, while 64 percent consider amenities like kitchens, workspaces, and yards important.

Other water-related destinations winning over Greek families this summer, include Nea Potidaia, Serifos, Golden Beach, Limeni, Antiparos, Gytheio, Samos, Paleochora, Ilia, and Asprovalta.
