New York City woke up to a striking winter scene on Sunday morning, as heavy snowfall blanketed Central Park in white for the first time this season. Trees, open lawns and walking paths were covered in snow and ice, creating scenes not seen in the city since 2019.

Snow began falling across the city overnight, gradually intensifying during the early morning hours before weakening from the west by mid-morning. The snowfall was widespread, affecting multiple neighborhoods and significantly changing the city’s appearance within a few hours.

Weather offices of the National Weather Service in New York and neighboring New Jersey issued warnings for severe weather conditions that remained in effect through Sunday afternoon, advising residents to remain cautious.
The snowfall was especially notable in a city that has experienced below-average snow levels in recent years. As a result, Central Park quickly filled with locals and tourists alike, many eager to experience the rare winter atmosphere, take photographs and enjoy the iconic park transformed by snow.
