British Prime Minister Keir Starmer said the United Kingdom and the United States continue to work closely together, emphasizing the strength of the long-standing partnership between the two allies.
Speaking in London on Monday, Starmer addressed questions about whether the so-called “special relationship” between the UK and the US had weakened. He dismissed those concerns, stating that cooperation between the two countries remains constant.
“It’s really important to emphasize that the U.S. and the UK are working together every single day, as they always have,” the British prime minister said.
However, Starmer also stressed that decisions concerning Britain’s national interests ultimately rest with the British government. “Decisions about what’s in Britain’s best interest are decisions for the Prime Minister of Britain,” he added.
