The week continues with mild autumn weather, but meteorologists warn of two approaching waves of bad weather that will bring rain and storms to parts of Greece. Showers will gradually intensify, especially in western regions by Friday.

Today, Thrace will see most of the rain, while Attica may get a few showers later in the day, mainly around the Saronic Gulf and the northwestern suburbs. Temperatures in Athens will reach 23°C, and in Thessaloniki, light rain is expected with highs of 22°C.

The first front arrives Thursday night into Friday, with rain and storms over the west, central, and northern parts of the country. A second system is due Sunday into Monday, expected to bring more widespread rainfall, including to Athens.

Thursday: Clouds and Strengthening Winds

Clouds will cover much of the Ionian and the mainland, except Thrace, bringing scattered showers and isolated storms, mainly in the west. Rain will ease in the east by night but intensify over the Ionian. Winds will blow east-southeast, up to 7 Beaufort in the Ionian. Temperatures will range from 18–25°C, warmest in the Dodecanese and southern Crete.

Friday: Widespread Rain and Local Storms

Rain and isolated thunderstorms will spread across the Ionian, western, and northern regions, possibly strong at times in the Ionian. Elsewhere, only brief showers are likely. Winds will remain strong, up to 8 Beaufort in the Ionian, easing by afternoon. Temperatures will stay steady.

Weekend Outlook: Unsettled

On Saturday, unsettled weather will continue across the west, central, and north, but conditions will gradually improve from the afternoon. Winds will shift to northwesterly, and temperatures will rise slightly.

By Sunday, a new system will bring clouds and showers, first in the north and east, later spreading to the Ionian and mainland, with isolated storms at night. Winds will turn southeasterly and strengthen, while temperatures dip slightly in the north.
