Greece’s Eurovision entry has yet to be decided, but one name is steadily rising above the noise. Akyla, with his song “Ferto,” has captured the attention of audiences and Eurovision devotees alike, not only for its musical punch but also for the deeply personal story behind it.

In recent days, the singer has appeared visibly moved on social media following the song’s warm reception. In a photo shared on Instagram, Akyla is seen with tears in his eyes, captioned simply: “I can’t believe what’s happening.” Hours later, “Ferto” landed on YouTube, quickly surpassing 114,000 views as praise flooded the comments. Fans have dubbed it a “hidden gem,” a “massive track,” and repeatedly insisted, “This has to go to Eurovision.” Some have gone further, boldly predicting it could even win the contest.
Many point to Akyla’s stage presence as a decisive factor. “If he can fill a room with just a microphone, imagine what he could do on the Eurovision stage,” one comment reads. Others are more blunt: “If Akyla doesn’t go, we’ve failed.”
Behind “Ferto” lies a story rooted in lived experience. Akyla has explained that the song traces a journey “from lack to success,” both symbolically and personally. Speaking on the TV show Studio 4, he said he wanted to create an uplifting, danceable track that still carried meaning.
“Ferto” tackles themes of overconsumption and greed, drawing inspiration from childhood dreams and unfulfilled desires. The song is dedicated, he says, “to all the kids who grew up with very little,” and especially to his parents. “I grew up in a home with serious financial difficulties. This song is for my parents and for all parents who do everything they can,” he has shared.
Now 28, Akyla speaks with gratitude about the friends and team supporting him, as “Ferto” mirrors his own path so far. With its blend of rhythm, emotion, and clear social message, Akyla is not just chasing a spot in Greece’s Eurovision 2026 final. He is giving voice to a generation that grew up with scarcity, but never stopped dreaming. For many, that already makes him a favorite.
