A year after her sold-out triumph, Greece’s ultimate pop icon Anna Vissi lit up Athens once again on Saturday night, September 13, with a performance that turned the historic Panathenaic Stadium into a sea of music and emotion.

More than 60,000 fans packed the legendary stadium, showering the beloved singer with endless applause. And the magic isn’t over yet—Vissi returns to the same stage tonight for a second show, part of whose proceeds will support “ELPIDA – Association of Friends of Children with Cancer.”

The frenzy began long before the first note. Doors opened at 5 p.m., but thousands had already gathered outside hours earlier. Lines stretched far and wide, traffic around the stadium was jammed, and those who chose public transport had reason to smile—Saturday marked the first day of Athens’ new 24-hour metro and bus service.

When Vissi finally appeared, she opened with her much-loved ballad “Se Periptosi Pou” (“In Case That”), instantly pulling the audience into her world. “What you’re giving me tonight is a gift of life,” she told the crowd. “I hope I have the strength to experience this again. Here we are together once more at the Kallimarmaro. Shall we make history again?” The answer, judging by the thunderous cheers, was a resounding yes.

The night carried a deeply personal note as well. Her longtime collaborator and life partner in music, Nikos Karvelas, was present, and Vissi’s heartfelt words about him drew a wave of emotion across the stadium.

“For three hours now, I’ve been singing songs he wrote—songs that have defined my life since 1973, when we first met,” she confessed. “We’ve shared everything since then: ideas, dreams, disappointments, joys, even mistakes that somehow led to the right paths. His creativity, humor, and taste guided us, always. He wrote, I sang, and together we dreamed—and still do. I can’t bear to see him just sitting there. I want him up here with me.”

With that, Karvelas joined her on stage—an electrifying moment that sealed the night as one for the history books.
