A night of rhythm, humor and cinematic nostalgia awaits Athens music lovers on January 6, as the Storyville Ragtimers take the stage at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC) for a live concert with free admission.
Bringing the festive season at the SNFCC to a stylish close, the Greek band invites audiences on a musical journey into the enchanting universe of Woody Allen, where early jazz meets the silver screen and the spirit of 1930s New York springs vividly to life.
Drawing inspiration from the acclaimed filmmaker’s filmography, the Storyville Ragtimers present a tribute to iconic soundtracks from movies such as Sleeper, Blue Jasmine, Radio Days and Midnight in Paris. The evening weaves together timeless melodies by Django Reinhardt, Benny Goodman, Louis Armstrong, Cole Porter and George Gershwin, enriched with storytelling and visual references to some of Allen’s most memorable scenes.
Known for their focus on ragtime—one of the earliest forms of jazz—the band recreates the speakeasy atmosphere of the Prohibition era, filling the concert space with infectious rhythms, elegance and warmth. It promises a fitting and joyful finale to SNFCC’s Christmas World celebrations.
