Greek Economy & Finance Minister Kyriakos Pierrakakis met with US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent on the sidelines of the annual IMF-World Bank autumn meeting in Washington D.C., with prospects for further boosting bilateral economic ties and attracting US investment in high value-added sectors, such as technological innovation and energy infrastructure, dominating talks.
Taking to his Instagram account, Pierrakakis wrote:
“I met with US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent in Washington. Six months after our first meeting, we had the opportunity to reaffirm the relationship of trust and strategic cooperation between Greece and the United States. I presented to my counterpart with the progress made by the country in the field of fiscal stability and attracting investment, and we discussed further strengthening economic relations between Greece and the US, with an emphasis on technological innovation and energy infrastructure.
“Over the past six years, Greece has emerged as a pillar of stability and growth in the wider region of the southeastern Mediterranean, making it an attractive and reliable investment destination.”
