Official Turkey revisited its well-known provocative mode on Thursday, with reports pointing to several Turkish military aircraft carrying out multiple airspace violations and Athens FIR infringements over the Aegean Sea in yet another ill-time action coming amid the ongoing war several hundred kilometers to the east.

According to the Greek side, two pairs of Turkish F-16 fighter planes flying in formation, accompanied by a CN-235 surveillance aircraft and two drones, conducted a total of nine violations of Greek national airspace in the northeast and southeast Aegean.

In addition, the same aircraft were responsible for six infringements of Athens FIR rules.

The same sources said Hellenic Air Force fighter planes were scrambled to identify and intercept the Turkish aircraft in accordance with international rules.

The incident reignited speculation in Athens over whether this was an isolated event or a sign of renewed Turkish provocations in the Aegean region, following a period of relative calm.
