On Wednesday, he attended the signing of a Joint Declaration on Strategic Cooperation between the Hellenic Centre for Defence Innovation (HCDI) and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Sea Grant Program (MITSG) at the Greek Consulate General in Boston.
The declaration was signed by MIT Sea Grant Director Professor Michael Triantafyllou and Markos Vasilikos, executive director and a member of the HCDI Board of Directors.
Following the signing, Dendias said the agreement establishes permanent cooperation in marine robotics and autonomy, among other areas.
The cooperation will include the transfer of know-how, the development of training activities and the creation of facilities in Greece to implement similar programs.

Talks on trauma center at Athens military hospital
During his visit, Dendias is also scheduled to meet Giorgos Velmahos, a professor of surgery at Harvard University.
Their discussions will focus on the creation of a Trauma Centre of Excellence at the 401st Army General Hospital of Athens, one of Greece’s military hospitals.
Meetings on AI, robotics and cybersecurity
Dendias will also meet with academics from U.S. universities and research institutions, as well as executives from U.S. companies specializing in defense and emerging technologies.
The meetings will cover robotics, innovation, artificial intelligence, cyber defense and cybersecurity, as well as space telecommunications.
The Boston visit brings together Greece’s defense innovation efforts with U.S. academic and technological expertise, with the cooperation between HCDI and MIT Sea Grant specifically establishing a framework for continued work in marine robotics and autonomous systems.
Dendias is scheduled to continue his meetings Thursday before concluding his two-day visit to Boston.
