Posting his weekly review on the social media platform Facebook about the government work, Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis announced that 15 new investment projects worth more than €2.4 billion have been approved in recent months, highlighting the country’s growing role in high-tech industries.
“Seven of these projects concern industry, six tourism, and two research and technology,” Mitsotakis said in his weekly social media update on government work. “These are investments that bring jobs, expertise, and high value-added production.”
The prime minister emphasized Greece’s dynamic entry into the European infrastructure network being developed around microchips and semiconductors, calling the sector “the most crucial field of the new digital era and economy.”
“Our goal, along with the planned gallium production investment in Greece—the key raw material for semiconductor manufacturing—is to create a domestic high-value, high-tech supply chain that will contribute to the productive autonomy of Greece and Europe,” Mitsotakis said.
He also stressed the importance of a strategic partnership between the Ministry of Development and the Hellenic Emerging Technologies Industry Association (HETiA) for the establishment of Greece’s first Semiconductor Competence Center, supported by €3.6 million in state funding.
Commenting on initiatives in public education regarding school safety and battling juvenile delinquency, Mitsotakis referred to actions under the National Strategy for the Prevention of Violence and Juvenile Delinquency, including “Cultural Actions for a More Child-Friendly Justice System” and the establishment of the first vocational high school inside the Larissa Correctional Facility. He also emphasized the broader apprenticeship system and investments in youth education at all levels.
On public health, he highlighted the operation of the 1566 helpline, while in the economy, he noted “significant progress” in strategic investments. Special mention was made of the AIGIS program, which is boosting Greece’s civil protection with new equipment and infrastructure.
Concluding his message, the prime minister urged landowners and tenants to clean their properties to reduce wildfire risks.
