A case involving an alleged AI-generated deepfake image targeting a 15-year-old girl has been reported in the northern Greek regional unit of Kilkis, raising renewed concerns in Greece over the misuse of artificial intelligence tools among minors.
According to information from the complaint, the teenage student told authorities that a classmate used one of her photographs to create a fake, digitally altered image depicting her nude through an artificial intelligence application.
The image was then allegedly shared with three other underage individuals, according to the same complaint.
Police sources said a case file has been opened against two 15-year-olds who have been identified by authorities in connection with the incident.
No further details about the students involved have been released due to the ages of the minors.
The incident adds to growing concerns internationally over the spread of AI-generated deepfake content, particularly involving teenagers and school environments, as increasingly accessible artificial intelligence applications make it easier to manipulate real photographs into fabricated explicit images.
In Greece, authorities have in recent years warned about the risks linked to online abuse, cyberbullying, nudifying apps and the non-consensual distribution of digitally altered material involving minors.
