Athens suburban rail services were experiencing delays and changes Tuesday morning, Aug. 18, after a fire broke out near the railway line in the Aspropyrgos area, west of Athens.
According to Hellenic Train, rail traffic has been suspended since 7:55 a.m. on the Nea Peramos–Ano Liosia section. Power has also been cut on the Loutroupyrgos–Ano Liosia section, further affecting train operations.
Which services are affected
Train 1304, operating from Piraeus to Kiato, remains at Ano Liosia station, while train 1305, traveling from Kiato to Piraeus, remains at Nea Peramos station.
To assist passengers, Hellenic Train has deployed buses to cover sections where rail services cannot operate.

As a result, Athens suburban rail services are facing delays and modifications, while buses are being used for passenger transportation on some sections.
Hellenic Train coordinating with OSE
Hellenic Train said it is in continuous coordination with OSE – Railways of Greece, the infrastructure manager, and the relevant authorities, with the aim of restoring rail traffic as soon as possible.
The company said it will provide further updates to passengers regarding the resumption of rail services and the normalization of schedules.
