A deeply disturbing child abuse case has emerged in western Greece, where a 10-month-old baby is hospitalized in critical condition following alleged prolonged mistreatment.
Authorities confirmed that both the child’s mother and her partner have been placed in pre-trial detention after appearing before an investigating judge. The decision was made with the agreement of the prosecutor, following felony charges brought against them.
Serious Charges Filed
According to the prosecution, the two suspects face charges of causing severe intentional bodily harm to a vulnerable individual. Investigators noted that the infant bore multiple visible injuries, raising alarm over the extent and duration of the abuse.
The child remains under medical care, with doctors describing the condition as critical.
Allegations of Repeated Abuse
Reports indicate that the mother’s partner is accused of physically abusing the infant through biting and burning with cigarettes. The mother, meanwhile, is alleged to have failed to intervene or protect the child despite being aware of the situation.
These claims form the basis of the case against both individuals, who will remain in custody pending further legal proceedings.
