Switching electricity providers is now faster and easier thanks to a new digital service available through Gov.gr. Launched in early 2025, the platform allows consumers to complete the entire process online in just a few steps, without gathering or submitting paperwork.

The service simplifies administrative procedures, reduces digital bureaucracy, improves everyday convenience for citizens, and supports greater competition in the energy market.

How it works

Select a provider and plan:
Visit the website or store of the provider you prefer, choose the electricity plan that suits you, and submit an application for a new contract. Many providers allow the entire step to be completed online.

Log in via Gov.gr:                                                                                                                                                          You are then redirected through a secure link to Gov.gr, where you log in using your TaxisNet credentials and a one-time password sent to your mobile phone. The platform automatically retrieves all required details—such as identification, tax number, contact information, and supply address. After reviewing them, you give consent for the data to be shared with the new provider.

This replaces traditional documentation, eliminating the need to submit copies of bills or ID.

Sign and complete the switch:
The new contract is issued electronically and can be signed digitally. Once signed, the request is forwarded to the Hellenic Electricity Distribution Network Operator (HEDNO), which completes the switch within a few days without interrupting your electricity supply.

You will receive a final bill from your previous provider, after which all future billing is handled by the new one. The supply number remains unchanged, confirming that only the provider—not the connection—has changed.
