Regional authorities in southern Greece have announced a new €15 million funding initiative aimed at improving road safety and upgrading key parts of the transport network.
The program focuses on maintenance and safety interventions across both national and regional roads, with priority given to high-risk locations, areas with heavy traffic, and routes where accidents frequently occur.
Focus on Safer Roads
The initiative is part of a broader regional development plan for 2026–2030 and seeks to create a safer and more functional road environment. Planned works are expected to reduce accident risks, enhance driver safety, and improve overall travel conditions for residents and visitors.
Authorities say the upgrades will play a crucial role in protecting human life while also improving daily mobility.
Part of a Wider Strategy
The €15 million investment builds on an ongoing strategy to modernize road infrastructure in the region. It follows a larger €45 million project currently underway, which includes safety interventions at more than 600 locations across the road network and is funded through a national recovery program.

The new funding call applies to multiple administrative areas within the Peloponnese region, covering a wide geographic scope and addressing long-standing infrastructure needs.
