Northern regions were hit hardest by heavy snow, particularly in mountainous areas. Near the city of Serres, 15 vehicles became stranded on a mountain road leading to a popular winter destination. Firefighters and police carried out a coordinated rescue operation to safely assist the trapped motorists.
Due to deteriorating conditions and increased visitor traffic, the local ski center suspended operations earlier than planned for safety reasons. Local authorities warned that travel to mountainous areas should only be attempted by those with proper equipment and experience.
Snow also affected parts of Kozani, Grevena, Kastoria and Florina, where difficult driving conditions led to road closures and the mandatory use of snow chains on several routes.
Central Macedonia: Flooded Roads and Emergency Alerts
In parts of Central Macedonia, intense rainfall caused flooding at low-level road crossings, forcing authorities to suspend traffic on several local roads. Emergency alerts were sent to residents in multiple areas, warning of hazardous conditions.

Drivers were advised to avoid unnecessary travel, particularly in flood-prone zones, while police and regional crews monitored road safety and assisted where needed.

Thessaly: Coastal Flooding and Agricultural Damage
The coastal areas of Thessaly experienced severe weather with heavy rain and strong winds. Overflowing streams and rising seawater flooded coastal roads, in some locations merging land and sea into a single flooded zone.

In rural areas, large stretches of farmland were submerged, raising concerns over crop damage. Floodwaters also entered ground-floor homes and businesses in seaside communities, causing material losses. Authorities confirmed that the flooding developed rapidly but reported no injuries.

Local and regional officials held coordination meetings with civil protection services, stressing that the situation is under constant observation.

Localized Snowfall and Mixed Conditions
Beyond flooding along the coast, parts of Thessaly also experienced snowfall and sharply lower temperatures, leaving residents to wake up to winter conditions alongside ongoing rain-related disruptions
