A case of child abuse in Greece has drawn attention after a group of primary school students took decisive action to protect one of their classmates.

The incident took place at an elementary school on the island of Crete, where fourth-grade pupils noticed visible signs of injury on a fellow student’s body and face. Concerned, they asked what had happened. The girl told them she had been physically assaulted by her father.

Rather than remaining silent, the children immediately informed their teachers and requested that the authorities be notified. Their swift and collective response led to police intervention.

According to local reports, the girl’s father, a 41-year-old man, was arrested following the students’ report. He is now expected to appear before the public prosecutor in Heraklion, the island’s main city.

The reaction of the children has been widely praised for its empathy and maturity, with parents and educators describing the students’ actions as both moving and exemplary. The case has also renewed discussion in Greece about the importance of awareness, early reporting, and support systems to protect minors from domestic violence.
