The Greek National Organization for Medicines (EOF) has issued a health warning about a potentially dangerous dietary supplement sold online, following alerts from German authorities.
The product, marketed as FAT KILLER capsules, may have been distributed in Greece via e-commerce platforms. Laboratory tests revealed that the supplement contains sibutramine and phenolphthalein, substances not listed on its label. Their presence makes the product an unapproved medicine and potentially harmful for consumers.
Sibutramine was withdrawn across Europe in January 2010 due to serious safety concerns, while phenolphthalein is known for its laxative effects. The EOF strongly advises the public not to use the product if they come across it.
Authorities also warn that buying supplements from unreliable online sources can pose serious health risks, underscoring the importance of purchasing only approved and regulated products.
Consumers are urged to remain vigilant and report any adverse effects or suspicious products to local authorities.
