An earthquake initially measured at 4.7 in magnitude on the Richter scale was reported just after 11 p.m. (21.00 GMT) on Monday evening, with an epicenter at roughly 31 to 29 kilometers west-northwest of the central Aegean island of Skyros. A later revision has the quake measuring 4.6 on the same scale.

According to the Athens Observatory’s Geodynamic Institute, the focal depth of the tremor was measured at 10 kilometers.

The earthquake was felt in the northern districts of the greater Athens area.

No reports of injuries or damages were reported at press time.

According to geology professor Efthymios Lekkas, the president of the Earthquake Planning & Protection Organisation (OASP), the tremor’s parameters are not worrying.
