The tragic ending confirmed the woman’s worst fears after she had reportedly been living through a nightmare in recent months. Terrified by the 48-year-old’s repeated threats, she had reportedly gone as far as changing the locks of the home she shared with her underage daughter in an effort to protect herself, according to a report by Greek television station Star.
What the investigation revealed
Evidence emerging from the authorities’ investigation is shedding light on the case. The murder weapon was a brand-new revolver, while bullets of the same caliber were found in the perpetrator’s car.
Police are examining the mobile phones and homes of both the 48-year-old man and the 45-year-old woman in an effort to reconstruct all the details of the events that led to the femicide.
His social media accounts are also being examined, as the man had reportedly posted photographs of himself posing with guns. The tragic figure at the center of the family tragedy remains the 45-year-old’s underage daughter, whose testimony is expected to shed light on her mother’s relationship with the 48-year-old.
The 48-year-old’s troubled past
According to reports in the Albanian press, police arrested the man in August 2016 after his ex wife reported that he had systematically stalked her, leaving her fearing for her life.
There are accounts indicating that the man was pathologically jealous of the 45-year-old and had threatened her in the past. However, it should be noted that Greek authorities have no record of a domestic violence incident involving the perpetrator.
