New details have emerged about the fatal road accident in Loutsa, where a 29-year-old driver struck a 24-year-old man, killing him and seriously injuring his partner. The victim’s mother and sister were also hurt, though less severely. The young man belonged to a well-known family linked to the Belgian chocolate brand “Leonidas.”

According to police, the driver had a blood alcohol level of 0.63, significantly above Greece’s legal limit of 0.50. Following toxicology results, the driver also tested positive in cocaine consumption.  The 29-year-old has reportedly told officers that he generally uses cocaine.

The suspect is expected to appear before a prosecutor and investigating judge today to face serious felony charges.

Reckless driving caught on camera

Security footage from the area shows the driver travelling at extremely high speed along Artemidos Avenue, repeatedly making illegal overtakes and crossing the solid center line into oncoming traffic. The videos indicate that he narrowly avoided colliding with several other vehicles before the fatal impact.

A newly released video aired by Greek broadcaster MEGA captures the moments just before the crash, showing the car accelerating, overtaking dangerously on a two-way road and creating substantial risk to other drivers.
