A serious “shanking” attack was reported on Thursday afternoon against a convicted Albanian contract killer known by the alias “Dimos”, immediately after his transfer to the Malandrinos prison in south-central Greece.

The inmate was seriously injured but was out of danger, according to reports citing prison officials.

The man was stabbed by another inmate, a Greek national working in a jail commissary, moments after arriving at the penitentiary following a stint at the Korydallos prison’s psychiatric ward.

“Dimos” is reportedly a leading member of the so-called “Greek Mafia” and is under investigation for the assassination of another criminal underworld figure, Yannis Lalas, last November in the mountain resort town of Arachova.

The same man is accused of previously attempting to kill Lalas during an assault rifle ambush of the latter in May 2025.
