A series of roads in Piraeus will close for six hours on Sunday as the city hosts the Run Greece Piraeus 2026 race, prompting traffic restrictions across parts of the city center and waterfront.
The race will start and finish on Grigoriou Lambraki Avenue at Kanari Square in Pasalimani. Piraeus traffic police will impose the closures from 7 a.m. until 1 p.m. to allow the event to take place safely.
Several major routes will be completely closed to vehicles along sections of the race course.
Grigoriou Lambraki Avenue will be closed between Vasileos Georgiou Street and Akti Moutsopoulou, as well as between Vasileos Georgiou and Pireos Street.
Akti Moutsopoulou will be closed between Grigoriou Lambraki and Charilaou Trikoupi Street. A separate section, between Blessa Street and Grigoriou Lambraki, will also be shut to traffic.
Iroon Polytechniou Street will close between Afentouli and Sachtouri streets and Eleftheriou Venizelou Street, while 34ou Syntagmatos Street will be closed between Eleftheriou Venizelou and Omiridou Skylitsi.
Evangelistrias Street will be closed between Omiridou Skylitsi and Grigoriou Lambraki, and Pylis Street between Grigoriou Lambraki and Tzavella Street.
Alexandrou Papanastasiou Avenue will be closed from Pylis Street to Vasileos Georgiou Street.
Vasileos Pavlou Street will be closed between Vasileos Georgiou and George Lloyd Street, while Akti Kountouriotou will be shut between George Lloyd and Blessa Street.
Drivers are advised to avoid the affected roads between 7 a.m. and 1 p.m. and allow extra time for journeys through central Piraeus. The city has asked residents and visitors to plan around the closures, which will remain in place for the duration of the race.
