Three people were arrested on Wednesday afternoon, July 29, by officers from the Lamia Narcotics Unit, according to local news outlet LamiaReport.
Those arrested include a taxi driver from eastern Phthiotis, a 27-year-old Roma woman, and a young Roma man. They are accused of possessing and trafficking illegal drugs.
According to the report, officers had been monitoring the group’s activities for an extended period as part of an ongoing investigation.
Investigators say the taxi driver was transporting the young couple as passengers, but authorities allege the three were jointly involved in distributing drugs across the greater Lamia area.
Police stopped the taxi during an operation on Athinon Street, where the vehicle was intercepted and all three suspects were arrested.
Drugs and Scale Concealed
At police headquarters, with the assistance of a female police officer, authorities discovered that the 27-year-old woman had concealed three small packages of cannabis in her rectum.
Police also reported finding a digital scale that the woman had hidden in her genital area.
The three suspects are expected to appear before the competent public prosecutor, while the taxi has been seized as an means of drug trafficking.
