One migrant, believed to be from Sudan and previously reported missing, died in the tragic outcome of a Coast Guard rescue operation after a boat carrying foreign nationals was spotted in waters north of Isidoros bay on Samos.
The body was located by a private diver taking part in the search.
The 35 survivors were safely transported to the port of Karlovasi, before being taken to the Closed Controlled Facility on Samos for standard registration procedures.
The operation involved a Hellenic Coast Guard patrol vessel, a floating ambulance boat, a Hellenic Rescue Team vessel, and a Super Puma helicopter from the Hellenic Air Force.
