Police are investigating reports of gunfire at Zografou University Dormitories, some 5km east of central Athens.

A shooting incident was reported minutes after 7p.m. on Wednesday at the student dormitories near the Zografou University Campus, prompting an immediate police response.

According to media reports, the Emergency Response Center of the Hellenic Police received two separate calls concerning incidents inside the student housing complex.

The first caller reported an altercation between several individuals, while a second caller alerted authorities to gunshots allegedly fired in the same area.

Police units were quickly dispatched to the scene to investigate the reports.

So far, officers have not located any shell casings, suspects, or individuals directly linked to the reported incident.

Authorities remain at the site as investigations continue to determine what happened and whether shots were actually fired.

Zografou University Campus is located in the suburb of Zografou near Mount Hymettus. Thousands of students, researchers, and faculty members study and work there.
