A teenage boy is hospitalized in critical condition and has been intubated after suffering severe injuries while diving into the sea from a pier in northern Greece.
The incident occurred on Wednesday afternoon at Skala Peraia, near the city of Thessaloniki, when the 16-17-year-old dived into shallow water. According to eyewitnesses, he jumped from a ladder attached to the pier and struck his head after entering the water.
Local reports indicate that the teenager suffered a serious neck injury. He was rushed by ambulance to Hippokration Hospital in Thessaloniki, where he was admitted in critical condition and remains intubated.
The victim was pulled from the water by nearby beachgoers before emergency medical services arrived and transported him to hospital.
The exact circumstances surrounding the accident remain under investigation by the relevant port authority.
