The third suspect in the 2010 attack on a Marfin bank branch in Athens has returned to pretrial detention after appearing before judicial authorities to provide a supplementary statement in the case.
The suspect submitted a written memorandum denying the allegations against him, saying he had no involvement in the incident, according to reports.
He and his two co-defendants had been summoned to provide additional testimony following new charges brought under Greece’s anti-terrorism law. The charges include homicide in the context of a terrorist act and multiple counts of attempted homicide involving the 24 employees who were inside the bank at the time of the attack.
The case concerns the deadly attack on the Marfin bank branch in 2010, which became one of Greece’s most prominent cases involving violence during demonstrations.
